We are just days away to New Year's Eve, so of course I am going to feature another excellent choice of sparkling wine to pop at midnight. Although I feel there are so many great options other than true Champagne, I still feel that I need to open real Champagne on New Year's Eve. With the price of Champagne rising so much the past few years, when you find a great option under $40, you have to buy it!
The Henriot Brut Souverain is only $34.99 and has a 92-point score from Decanter and 91-point scores from Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator and Big Jim Suckling. "Bright white fruits and a fine balance between richness and crisp acidity are the hallmarks of the nonvintage Champagne from this producer. Perfumed and with delicious apple and peach fruits, the bottling is ready to drink. Editors' Choice." Wine Enthusiast.
My favorite part of true Champagne is when you get that really nice yeasty, fresh baked bread notes on the nose. It balances off with really crisp fruit and mineral notes. The bubbles on a true Champagne always seem to be so much smaller and more elegant. Although that just might be in my head. The Henriot Brut Souverain has all of this and more, and for only $35!
So, if you want to end the year on a good note and start the new year in style, make sure to grab a bottle of this Champagne for your midnight toast.
