Neighborhood spotlight: a BBQ placed called Smoke Shack relocated to where Luigi's used to be on Gandy near Himes. Smoke Shack has a food truck on the side of the building now but plans to move fully into the former Luigi's space soon. In other BBQ news, is anyone else as excited as I am about 4 Rivers coming to MacDill and Swann soon? Can't wait. Sorry to see Luigi's go but for your Italian needs be sure to check out Trattoria Pasquale on Manhattan. We enjoyed their seven course themed dinner over the weekend (price is actually a very fair $40 PP) and can confirm they are legit. Sneak peak: their themed dinner this month will focus around fish. Be sure to get on their email list for dates and get your bottles from Craft & Curd for their BYOB.
Now that the Holiday weekend is over I hope that you are getting back into a good groove. I know I'm happy to be back to the grind. I'm one of those weird individuals that doesn't fully love things like holidays & vacations but rather enjoys savoring every normal day. Jessica and I are attempting to return our body weights to some normalcy this month by restricting the booze and exercising more. A lot of people don't know this about me but last year out of boredom I got two personal trainer certifications and spent not a small amount of time upside down walking on my hands. Opening a wine shop may not be good for one's health. Time to fight that.
Stop by the shop tonight for a complimentary tasting of four wines. Stay for a glass of one of those wines for just $5. Tonight's theme will be rustic Italian reds. Why not stop by the shop, taste some wines, pickup a bottle and head to the aforementioned Trattoria Pasquale for some Spaghetti Carbonara or call it in to go. Yes, I'm obsessed.
Friday tastings are back on this week, 6:00 to 8:00, $10 per person.
Please note we have a private event going on Thursday evening this week. We'll be open for retail sales but not for wine bar service that evening. Interested in having a private event with us? Just send us an email.
I'm happy to announce that we were able to setup another customer loyalty program this time right through our register. For every 10 visits to the shop where you spend a minimum of $20, you get $10 back towards your next purchase. Please don't come in to purchase $200 worth of wine and ask me to break it up into 10 transactions ;-) All you need to do to activate the promo is to enter your email address or cell number to receive digital receipts (we rarely market via that channel but may send you an additional coupon occasionally). The growler reward program remains in effect in its current physical form - our system is not that sophisticated yet. Let's see how the program goes and then maybe we can add some more perks like say, a free glass of wine or pint of beer ever 7th visit for example. A wise man (albeit one who smokes Marlboro Menthol Lights and eats Tuna sandwiches from gas stations) recently reminded me of the priority to do everything you can to keep the customers you do have coming back. (For those of you in the know of who that is, yes, I'm referring to the infamous Michael Rugers formerly of Bern's Steakhouse)
Have a great week everyone. See you soon.
