Additional Details

In 1973, Chamisal became the first winery to plant vines in the Edna Valley - a gamble that paved the way forward for one of California's most revered wine regions.

Unlike our winegrowing brethren in Burgundy, we haven’t had multiple centuries to study the intricacies of our terroir—the sense of place created by the interaction of soils, climate, and topography. Since 1973, we have been determining the best way to grow incredible grapes here, and we are continually refining our vineyard as our knowledge and experience grow.

Because of its east-west orientation so close to the Pacific Coast, the Edna Valley is one of the coolest appellations in California. Its long, temperate growing season gives the grapes plenty of time to ripen on the vine—typically several weeks longer than warmer growing regions. This extended hangtime allows cool-climate grapes like Chardonnay to develop deep, rich flavors and superior fruit intensity.

For this Pinot Noir, which emphasizes light fruit and an early proximity that does not require a long burial, du Fresne used a partial carbonic gas maceration in the subsoil to extract the lush aromas and lively notes of red fruit from the air.  2019 SLO County Pinot Noir is made of stainless steel to ensure a clean, clear and acidity controlled wine.

Upon receiving the wine back we will refund for the wine minus the initial shipping cost. In the event that we make a mistake we work with you to fix whatever went wrong at no additional cost to you.
