Boscarelli Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2016 - 750ml

$ 40.00

94 Points Decanter
"Boscarelli is located in the revered area of Cervognano. Established in 1962, it's now run by third-generation brothers Luca and Nicolò De Ferrari, who have gradually been replanting the vineyards since 1987. The gorgeous 2016 Vino Nobile includes local blending varieties, Canaiolo Nero, Colorino and Mammolo. A spectrum of enticing aromas greets the nose, from rose, violets and wild cherry to sage and thyme. Elegant, savoury and deceptively light on its feet, the palate proposes sweet yet tangy fruit with layers of finessed, powdery tannin. This superb wine is just at the start of its evolution."

93 Points Wine & Spirits
"This is Boscarelli’s flagship wine, first produced in 1968 and matured for up to two years in Slavonian and Allier oak casks. The 2016 opens with high-toned scents of fresh cherry and orange peel that carry through to the flavors, which are cinched by taut tannins and propelled by brisk acidity. Appealing now for its bright fruit tones, it has good aging potential. "

90 Points James Suckling

"Fresh and bright with strawberry and orange-peel character. Light body, bright acidity and a clean and crisp finish. Fun. Drink now."

"The Boscarelli family have been producing Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG since 1968... Boscarelli is a small estate in Montepulciano where a Genoese family has been making wine for 50 years. We are certain that quality can be achieved only through commitment and dedication. The passionate person and the curious person who approach the world of the great Tuscan reds must find in our winery and wines our most authentic passion.” - Paola de Ferrari Corradi

Winemaker's Notes

Vinification
The grapes are picked manually and transported in crates. After de-stemming and soft pressing, they are fermented in oak vats filled to no more than two-thirds of their capacity. Indigenous yeast is used in the fermentation process that lasts about a week at controlled temperatures from 28 to 30
degrees. Short manual re-passing of the must and pomace is completed in the initial phase. Pulping continues, where possible, for another 5 to 8 days after fermentation.

Aging
This Nobile vintage is aged in Allier or Slavonian oak casks of capacity ranging from 5 to 35
hectoliters, where malolactic fermentation occurs. Maturation takes from 18 to 24 months. Before delivery the wine is aged in the bottle for several months

Optimal maturity
The aging potential of our Nobile is a few decades, so the optimum maturation period we
recommend varies, depending on the vintage, from the fifth to the eighth year after harvest.
