Chardenet 'Durell Vineyard' Chardonnay 2013 - 750ml
93 Points Wine Enthusiast
"This is a sublime, succulent and entirely rewarding white from the great vineyard site that is Durell. The vines used by this producer date back to 1994, 1995 and 2003. Richly defined, the wine is lengthy and complex in honeycomb, ginger and a powerful mix of acidity and texture, finishing in a bite of orange."
The famed Durell Vineyard is without question, one of the most lauded Chardonnay crus in California and is situated in the foothills of Sonoma Mountain, a few miles northwest of Coteau Blanc. The vineyard overlaps three contiguous regions: Carneros, Sonoma Coast and Sonoma Valley. The terroir consists of well-drained, cobbled soils, sloping and relatively steep, with southeast and southwest orientations that capture the daytime sun. The wine displays the vineyard’s stony soils, showing a tangy streak of minerality.
Dating back to its first use in 1849, Chardenet was the original spelling of Chardonnay in France. Over time, the word disappeared from the French lexicon as the current spelling became preferred practice. To honor the grape variety’s rich heritage, Carneros Hills Winery has reclaimed this historic spelling producing limited amounts of single vineyard Chardonnay to showcase our unique expression of Chardenet.

Shipping wine around the country is very expensive. We charge about a third less than what it actually costs us. If you need to return your order (or if the wine gets returned back to us because you were unable to receive it after 3 attempts and you didn't email us to make other arrangements), we need to collect a return shipping fee that is up to double the amount of the shipping you paid. Upon receiving the wine back we will refund for the wine minus the initial shipping cost. In the event that we make a mistake we work with you to fix whatever went wrong at no additional cost to you.
