Patrick Piuze Chablis Terroir de Fye 2018
"This super generic bottling comes from the same vineyard as Canadian Patrick Piuze's Bas de Chapelot. It's the most accomplished of the 'terroir' range in 2018, dubbed a 'baby Montée de Tonnerre' by the man who made it. Leesy, fine and very subtly oaked, it's refreshingly light in alcohol with good dry extract and a salty, bone dry finish. Drinking Window 2021 - 2026"

"From the lower portion of Chapelot that isn't entitled to the premier cru appellation, Piuze's 2018 Chablis Terroir de Fyé wafts from the glass with aromas of pear, apples, fresh mint, beeswax and oyster shell. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a racy but textural profile and a saline finish. One of the more elegant wines in this range, it's well worth seeking out."
Patrick Piuze- a Montreal native- is a rock star in Chablis, having taken the region by storm when he arrived over decade ago. He worked for Jean-Marc Brocard and Jean-Marie Guffens before starting his own label in 2008, and has very quickly come to be counted among the legendary names of the region. He harvests everything by hand, a paramount factor in the quality of his wines. While most cellars use a pneumatic press, he uses a vertical one. Piuze does not use any temperature control during fermentation and he explained that allowing the temperature to rise gives more dry extract in the wines, giving a feeling of freshness and structure.

Shipping wine around the country is very expensive. We charge about a third less than what it actually costs us. If you need to return your order (or if the wine gets returned back to us because you were unable to receive it after 3 attempts and you didn't email us to make other arrangements), we need to collect a return shipping fee that is up to double the amount of the shipping you paid. Upon receiving the wine back we will refund for the wine minus the initial shipping cost. In the event that we make a mistake we work with you to fix whatever went wrong at no additional cost to you.
