Pietracupa Taurasi 2007
"The Wine: This wine is the result of an accurate selection of the best Aglianico grapes carefully handpicked at the end of October from a 15 year old vineyard planted on a rich volcanic soil. After the soft pressing of the grapes, the alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel vats. The wine ages for about 24-30 months in large oak barrels. It is then refined in bottle for at least 12 months before being released on the market.
Tasting Notes: Taurasi is the area where Aglianico grapes offer their best potential and in fact this potent and outstanding wine features a bright ruby red color and floral notes with hints of spices, sage and citrus on a mineral background. The palate is silky with a fresh quality to it. Elegant tannins make it extremely smooth with a persistent finish and a multilayered quality. Extremely pleasant and refined, it is the perfect match for pasta with savory sauces, roasts, game and aged cheeses."
