Tenuta Bellafonte 'Collenottolo' Montefalco Sagrantino 2012 - 750ml

$ 60.00

93 Points Wine Enthusiast

"This opens with aromas of black-skinned berry, scorched earth and leather. The elegant, concentrated palate doles out red currant jam, ripe blackberry, white pepper, clove and cinnamon tones alongside assertive tannins. Drink 2020–2030."

Sagrantino: the origins of this variety are still debated. However, it is likely to have originated in Greece and been brought to Italy by Byzantine Monks. Evidence of its cultivation in the Montefalco area dates to the Middle Ages. In the past, this red wine was mainly used for religious ceremonies, hence the name “Sagrantino”, deriving from the word meaning “sacred”. -Tenuta Bellafonte

Tenuta Bellafonte's Tasting Notes

Intriguing and intense ruby in colour, it unveils refined iris and lavender scents, with raspberry and blueberry conserve, a touch of sweet spicies and aromatic herbs.It creates a great harmony on the palate; in spite of its full bodied tannin structure, it satisfies the palate with its  delicate hues of fruit and toasted flavors.
